I lived in Vietnam from 2011–2018, splitting my time between Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi.

In my time there, I worked for a TimeOut-modeled magazine called Word Vietnama moonbear-focused animal charity called Animals Asia, and the state-run newspaper Vietnam Investment Review. I took on freelance work for Nestlé Vietnam, Park Hyatt Saigon, and a crypto startup. I did translation refinement for Korean companies from Hyundai to Samsung. I started a non-profit art library project called Youth Culture Library.

I traveled widely in this time, and developed my knowledge of East Asia. These days, I use my perspective to write articles on adjacent topics such as Fight Club’s China-censored ending.
