My Story
Birthplace: NYC
Current city: Philadelphia
Age: 40
Education: BA in English Lit from McGill University
A quote from the last great book I read: “In times of storm, we mustn’t allow the storm to enter ourselves, rather we have to find peace inside ourselves and then breathe it out.” — Lawrence Weschler, Vermeer in Bosnia
I’m a somewhat lapsed East Coaster — after growing up, going to school and spending my 20s on the North American east coast, I headed to Vietnam for 7 years. I’ve been back in Philadelphia since 2019, writing full time and working on a novel.
I’ve written on everything from cannabis to textiles, voice commerce to colonial echoes in the ghost stories of Vietnam. I was managing editor of the largest English-language magazine in Vietnam, and lead subeditor for a state-run financial newspaper (I am probably more excited about Vietnam’s dairy industry than anyone you know). In my spare time I set up a “pirate bar,” founded Vietnam’s first zine library, and did fun side jobs like edit the English translation of the International MANGA Award-winning graphic novel Holy Dragon Imperator.
My writing time is spent sussing out stock picks, writing about the city of Austin, Texas, and pitching magazine stories, among other gigs. Variety is the spice of life, and I’ve had plenty of it. Get in touch if you’d like help telling the stories that are important to you.
